Design in interface is not about art, but the art of making the user forget about technology and enjoy what they do while invoking the exact emotion intended.

Lancing around

Wed Mar 18, 2009, 3:44 AM
I have worked with clients of many nationalities. Sri Lankan, indian, british, italian, american, swedish, singaporean, malaysian are just some thats coming to my mind right now. Yesterday I met up with an australian client.

Its an interesting experience. I mean being a freelancer compared to working in a company where you dont get to meet the client most of the time. I believe all are jobs should have some social element to it, rather than just being stuck in a room in front of a computer. We all need to socialize, even while we work. I made it my goal to do projects with clients from various nationalities. its certianly a whole different experience compared to working with only locals. you learn alot and it expands your worldview.

It was hard quiting my job and starting off at a freelancer, my family thought i was crazy, but after a while things work out. I've been freelancing for 5 years now, and while people are loosing their jobs from the economy crisis, I'm doing just fine

Lamborgini

Tue Dec 30, 2008, 9:14 AM
The Lamborghini brand of exotic cars is truly amazing. But what I found that more amazing is Lamborghini as a company when I watched a documentary about it couple of days back.

The founder of the company was a farmer who used to steal military parts for the tractors in his farm. He used to drive a Ferrari and he wasn’t happy with the Ferrari Clutch. So when he met Enzo Ferrari he told about that, Enzo told him that he’s just a farmer and what does he know about cars. That is what drove Lamborgini’s founder to start his journey.

Even being around for so long and making so much, they are still a small company. Why? Because their goals are not like other companies. Their focus isn’t quantity and profits. They will make only a few Lambos but those few will be of the most divine quality and precision. All their employees are well trained and the best in what they do. And everything they do is done with love, pride and dedication. Like the way Italian artists paint. Their factory has the most high tech stuff and is more of a high tech science lab than just a work shop.

Well I could go on. I’d recommend who ever could get your hands on this documentary to watch it. And you will understand why lots of companies fail and even the so called ‘successful’ ones don’t make their customers and employees entirely happy. I’d love to work in a company like Lamborghini.
